Blackcat Usb Jtag Drivers

Getting optimum application of your machine is dependent not merely on Blackcat USB 2, but additionally on an immense number of drivers that associate the computer hardware and your devices. To avoid most of the failures which can derive from an out-of-date driver, it's essential to upgrade the impacted driver with the latest model. The JTAG-USB cable allows you to use your PC to connect to a JTAG scan chain or to access an SPI interface on a board equipped with the appropriate 6-pin header. In this way, you can program devices on Digilent programmable logic boards using the Digilent Adept Suite.

The Blackcat USB Jtag uses the common ATMEL AT90USB162 chipset that has 16K of flashable memory, and contains a non-eraseable bootloader, so the device will always be able to be erased and re-programmed on basically any PC with USB support. This device is a cost-effective way to read or program thousands flash memory devices. This device can program all CFI compatible flash devices over JTAG and can also program SPI high-density serial flash devices. Hardware support can be added using a easy to use device script feature. Putting the device into Flashable mode is easy, just flip the two switches and plug it into your computer and then press the little brown button, and if everything works bang your PC should detect an device, and then you got to point to directory were you installed the FLIP software, and it will install the USB device drivers for it. The Blackcat USB Jtag has two nice very BRIGHT leds on it, one RED and one BLUE.

Hey guys, hoping you can provide some assistance here. I've got a blackcat USB (TCNISO 1.5) and when I plug it into the CPU through USB, Windows does not even recognize it's there. I've tried this with the switches away from the 1 and 2, and also at the 1 and 2.

The red light does go, but nothing in Windows. Do anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Maybe it's simply busted?

FYI: I was able to successfully flash a different blackcat USB, which is why I am curious as to what the deal with this one is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Try to put only one switch on each side instead of both in the same side. Mine works like that. After press the button on the board and you pc can detect it.

OK, here are some new instructions that should definitely work with EJTAG 1.6. Tested on Win7 X64 1. Switch your EJTAG to DFU mode. Plug in your EJTAG to your PC.

You should now see the EJTAG show up as a Generic USB device(This is normal due to no drivers installed yet).Note: If it does not show up as a Generic USB. Remove all existing AT90USB162 drivers.

If you experience Unknown Device then you will need to remove all power to your PC so the USB hub can be reset. If it still fails, try on a fresh install or another PC. Grab the atmel signed x64 drivers located here: 5.

Open Device Manager - Right-Click Computer Name on top - Click Add Legacy Hardware - Next - Install hardware manually(Advanced) - Show All Devices - Browse to the driver location from step 4 - Choose AT90USB162. You should now see LibUSB-Win32 Devices with AT90USB162 in Device Manager. Now that the drivers have been installed, press the reset button on your EJTAG. It should now show up as a AT90USB162 device under LibUSB-Win32.

Now that the EJTAG is working properly install the latest Flip 3.42 software. Launch Flip and choose AT90USB162 then open up the USB connection. All options should be available now. Load the hermesv1 hex, Flash, then click start application(DO NOT RESET). Unplug the EJTAG and test.IMPORTANT: There are many variations of hex files and only one has worked for me which is hermesv1(not v2,not , not 1.1 etc). If you use the wrong one, it will not work.

Hope this helps. Last edited by dan2009; at 12:57 PM.
